Effective Instruction in Math Workshop K-5
To compete in the global economy, you must know math. However, as students move up the grade levels, the mathematics become more difficult and students tend to "get lost" in the problems and numbers. They do not have the strategies that will enable them to achieve mathematical literacy. This literacy is defined as a range of sophisticated mathematical knowledge and skills that extend far beyond basic calculations skills. The question becomes how can teachers help students meet the demands that have led to a tremendous increase in the importance of mathematics in a growing number of occupations, and in daily life.
The focus will be on the use of assessment data to drive effective math instruction to cater for all students' needs.
